William Ewart Gladstone was prime minister of Great Britain on four occasions (1868-74, 1880-85, 1886 and 1892-94 as a Liberal).
He died in 1898 at Hawarden Castle, Flint.
Three Goalens married into the Gladstone Family: Alexander Goalen married Helen Gladstone, William's aunt, Revd. Walter Mitchell Goalen married Anne Gladstone, William's cousin and Thomas Goalen married Helen Gladstone, another of William's cousins. Their names appear in this Gladstone family tree.
